Professional Experience: |
I have over 5 years of experience in communications, general management and high-level administrative support. After graduating from my undergraduate degree, I was selected for a fast-track leadership program with one of New Zealand’s largest banks. For 2 ½ years I worked as an assistant relationship manager, where I held a number of administrative, financial and customer relationship responsibilities. I was also invited to Vanuatu for a 3 ½ month secondment in 2007. Here I worked as an assistant relationship manager in corporate finance and helped train local assistants in the bank’s global compliance protocols. Since leaving ANZ, I have worked in a multi-faceted managerial role in a small business. This has seen me juggling a variety of responsibilities including marketing, budgeting, customer relationship management and logistics. I was also able to showcase my aptitude for learning and critical analysis with the research paper I presented for Church Army NZ on missional communities. Through this research I was able to learn about church history, theology, missiology and ecclesiology. All of which are very different from my initial studies in Economics and Finance. I have serviced with Human Rights Agency, International Justice Mission in Kenya as a Communications Intern. As the first dedicated communications staff member for this field office I have been tasked with laying the foundations for growing the profile of IJM in Kenya. My varied career has given me a highly developed ability in written and oral communications. The many administrative roles I have performed have enabled me to manage a large number of projects and tasks simultaneously and to complete them with minimal oversight. I am an action-oriented self-starter with strong initiative. I am adept at creative problem solving and seek to build bridges that drives toward solution. I am to apply my skills gained from my work experience to the fields of human rights, social and economic justice; and development.

Education: |
My educational background is indicative of my aptitude for learning and varied interests of human rights, social justice and business. I am completing a Masters in Development Studies which will be submitted in July 2014. My thesis topic looks at a human rights-based approach to addressing widowhood disinheritance in South Eastern Nigeria, based on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
In June 2014, I was recently awarded the University of Auckland Faculty of Arts Thesis Scholarship.
In 2005, I completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Graduate Diploma of Commerce in Finance and Economics from the University of Auckland in 2005. For the honours component of my degree, I completed a 10,000 word dissertation on the relationship between trade and development.
In 2009 I completed a Certificate in Local Missions with Church Army New Zealand. This practical course focused on grass-roots social justice, which is another passion of mine.
