Professional Experience: |
Dennis Goonting has over 20 years experience on multi-lateral development aid programmes and projects in South and South-east Asia. He has functioned at field-, management and policy-influencing levels in the areas of :
(i) poverty reduction / livelihood development and management (facilitation of community-based / driven development and empowerment, livelihood security and income restoration, micro-finance, participatory irrigation design and management, and agricultural support services);
(ii) performance monitoring and evaluation for integrated water resources / river basin management, conservation and development and micro-credit projects;
(iii) social safeguards / protection assessments and mechanisms on medium and large scale infrastructure development projects (energy and irrigation sectors),
The Consultant has worked with Government, international and local NGOs, private sector and civil society / community-level groups in multi-stakeholder settings and has good inter-cultural, inter-personal and networking skills. The Consultant has served as technical advisor and trainer to Government agencies and NGOs and, team leader on multi-disciplinary teams.
Dennis Goonting is also involved in FBO-based outreach activities with Vietnamese and Indonesian migrant workers and Burmese refugees in Malaysia.
