I am a food and agriculture lobbyist with a Master's degree in International Security. Professional Experience:
As a food and agriculture lobbyist, I work closely with more than 20 clients to develop effective lobbying strategies that will be executed during the legislative and regulatory process and petition key policymakers consistent with client objectives. I've prepared policy briefs, informed analysis, testimony and other correspondence needed to communicate our clients' positions to Congress and the Administration. I provide in-depth, advanced political intelligence and policy analysis tailored to the client's interests and forecast government action that will have a direct or indirect impact on the client.

Thanks to the small size of our firm (six employees total), I've been tasked with a wide range of responsibilities. I've worked with fundraisers, helped a client set up a 501(c)3 that aims to educate policymakers and the public about the importance of agricultural research, and and worked with some of our private sector clients on their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Prior to working at The Russell Group, I worked as an associate at a defense contracting company which specialized in human intelligence issues. I also interned at a Washington, DC think tank, focusing on Middle Eastern affairs and foreign relations research, before going to graduate school.

Working as an agriculture lobbyist with clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to international trade associations has heightened my understanding of food and ag policy on both a domestic and global scale. I've witnessed the inner mechanics of companies' corporate and government affairs shops firsthand. I have helped shape Congressional legislation, and cliche though it might sound, I "know how Washington works." All of this has reinforced the simple truth that my foremost passion is international development. I know what awaits us - the surge in global population growth that necessitates we grow more food with fewer resources - and it's this nexus of challenge and opportunity that interests me most.

Received my Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in June 2006. Majors: History & International Studies; Minor: Political Science; Cumulative GPA: 3.5 / 4.0
