Professional Experience: |
My close to ten years work experience has seen me servicing international organizations, the United Nations system, and International NGOs. Rural Development, Food Security & Livelihood, Environment Protection, Resilience to Climate Change and Natural Disasters, Disaster Risks Reduction and Humanitarian Aid Coordination, Gender Equality, Economic and Social Empowerment, Project Management and Monitoring (PCM cycle – planning, supervision, monitoring and evaluation), Logistics and Administration, Management of Donor (AICS, ECHO, DFID, OCHA, EU DEVCO, FAO, WFP, UNIDO) and Stakeholders Relations, Project Design, Drafting and Reporting, Annual and Multi-Annual Programming Design and Definition of Development Cooperation Strategies, are some of the key areas of my daily work agenda in Development Cooperation. Currently I am working as UNIDO International Programme Coordinator of the 20 million euro SINCE Programme financed by the EU Trust Fund for migration in Ethiopia under the Valletta principles. Beside keeping Donor relations (Embassy of Italy, the EU Delegation, and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation – AICS) and ensuring Donor’s compliance, I am supporting the M&E mechanism for the SINCE Programme and providing technical assistance to the 5 winning Consortia (IRC, COOPI, VIS, Edukans and PIN as leads) to best address the Agri-business, leather, construction and metal works value chains development needs. In addition I work hand in hand with UNIDO HQ to re-shape the Organization’s Country Strategy in Ethiopia including the setting up of a result based and pragmatic Coordination structure and funding strategies (through which I have supported in the drafting of a recently EU funded program for 8 Ml Euro). As Head of Mission in Ethiopia for Cooperazione Internazaionale – COOPI (www.COOPI.org), besides defining, together with COOPI Planning Department, the strategies of intervention in the country and managing the relations with Donors, Governmental counterparts and International and local partners (CARE, ICRC, IRC, DRC, Save the Children, Oxfam, etc.), I managed over 70 staff members (3 expatriates), placed on 12 projects (for over 15 ml euro and funded by EU, ECHO, AICS, ADF, USAID, UNIDO & CARITAS) related to climate change, resilience, natural resources management, migration, nutrition and food security. I also took care of the supervision and direction of a team dedicated to writing projects and fundraising. In this context, I have drafted, during this period, over 14 projects and brought to finance 12. Prior to managing operations in Ethiopia, I served for COOPI in Malawi (as a result of the floods in 2014 which caused more than 200,000 internally displaced people) for 2 years as Head of Base in Salima. In addition to writing project proposals, fundraise more than 5 million euro and manage 40 staff members, I implemented and monitored 5 projects (funded by WFP, DFID, ECHO, DIPECHO and AICS) in the field of food security (food
