Professional Experience:
In the last dozen years, I have facilitated the conceptualisation and implementation of conflict management projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Somaliland and Uganda. I possess solid conceptual understanding of the linkages between, peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding as well as the national, regional and international frameworks that underpin them. Based in Armidale in Australia, I am currently a Doctoral Researcher and Casual Academic at the University of New England. In this role, I am conducting research on the role of political parties in political violence in Kenya and South Africa. In my immediate previous role, I was the head of the Peacebuilding Unit at the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) wherein I advised on all peacebuilding programming besides directly managing a continental project with a focus on Liberia and South Sudan. I also ensured that financial management of the project was in line with policy requirements as well as agreed deliverables.

I have tenacious grasp of the broad dynamics of conflicts and their drivers, especially in Africa. My in-depth knowledge of some specific contexts is partly informed by my past assignments when I oversaw the conceptualisation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of conflict management projects across many flashpoints. In past work, I led and was part of teams working towards the achievement of identified objectives. Notably, I have experience in peacebuilding projects grants management which involved not only working with other organisations to achieve a broad programme objective but also building the capacities of the partner entities. A crucial component of grants management included frequent project site visits for purposes of providing training, monitoring and evaluation as well as conflict analysis. I have in the past been able to work independently with limited supervision while still able to deliver on stringent deadlines.

Apart from being published in respected journals/publications covering peace, security and development issues in Africa, I have written several analytical academic papers as well as comprehensive programme reports. I consider that I am not only a good writer but also one that can explain issues in a clear and analytical manner. I possess excellent command of the operations of MS Office, the internet and reliable understanding of computer hardware.
