Professional Experience: |
Ms. Kihiu is a development expert with fifteen years of combined experience in women’s empowerment, feminist movement building, gender mainstreaming, organizational development and leadership, programme coordination, policy advocacy, community mobilization, inclusive development and trade and regional integration.
Ms. Kihiu holds a Master of Science in International Trade Law and Trade Policy from Lund University as well as a Bachelor of Law Degree from University of South Africa.
Ms. Kihiu currently works as the Head of Programmes and Operation at a national non-profit, women-led and focused organization working with and for the empowerment of pastoralist Maasai women in northern Tanzania. She previously worked with the East African Business Council (EABC) - a regional private sector body- as the regional coordinator for advocacy platform of women entrepreneurs called the East Women in Business Platform (EAWiBP). She has also carried out various consulting assignments on women’s empowerment, gender mainstreaming, SMEs’ trade facilitation, inclusive trade and development, private sector development and regional trade and integration. She consulted for 3 years as a Gender and Poverty Expert for the Global Economic Governance Africa (GEG Africa)-Phase II Project.
