Professional Experience:
I have a successful track record of lobbying and negotiating within UK, US and Nigerian Governments; setting and achieving advocacy goals; designing research projects and tools; building the capacity of organisations to carry out research and advocacy; remotely supporting colleagues across Africa and the Middle East; and developing dialogue on education issues.

Those who know me describe me as an innovator, a strategic thinker, an impressive communicator, and a positive, dependable colleague able to hit the ground running and quickly achieve results.

I have recently completed a years’ assignment working for DFID’s Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria and VSO as an Advocacy and Research Adviser. In this role I was instrumental in developing policy positions and in producing and supporting the production of policy-oriented research on education issues. By training and supporting members of the Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All in research, advocacy and lobbying a more accountable education system is being created. My intervention started with a problem-tree analysis, I then assisted CSOs to design a research project to examine the issue and wrote the final report which was published by UNESCO and cited in the Global Campaign for Education’s response to the Post 2015 agenda.

With strong knowledge of challenges at the grassroot level, I have adopted a pragmatic approach towards creating change at the political and institutional level and influencing programming. This attitude allows me to quickly achieve results. As an Education Consultant I had to quickly become an expert and deliver client projects on a range of education issues. I work best under pressure with shifting and demanding deadlines and have demonstrable time management skills highlighted by completing my full time Masters while working full time. Having worked in challenging work environments I have the flexibility, patience and determination required to ensure deadlines are met.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills I am comfortable managing relations with beneficiaries, donors and stakeholders. I have managed relationships with CIDA, DFID, UN and governments. My enthusiasm and positive attitude, coupled with media training, means I am capable of giving interviews, presentation and expressing ideas orally. I enjoy getting people excited about new ideas, am able to quickly build relationships with people from diverse cultures. I am skilled at translating complex arguments into accessible English and tailoring communications to different audiences. I have utilised traditional and social media for advocacy.

I have strong knowledge on the ethics of working with children, especially those who have been affected by violence and have worked with children and vulnerable groups in the UK and in developing and conflict affected communities. I have full police clearance.
