Professional Experience: |
Two decades of experience in managing large scale emergency, food security and livelihood programs from working for Save the Children, Oxfam GB, Concern Worldwide and CARE in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Sudan and Lesotho. Currently working for Plan International in the Philippines as Program Manager of a massive early recovery and resilience building of communities affected by the November 2013 Typhoon. Have skills in strategic planning, assessments, program development, fundraising, grants management, program coordination/management, monitoring and evaluation, humanitarian policy review/analysis, in representation, networking and advocacy. Very rich experience in managing large number of staff with diverse backgrounds including a team of 250 staff in current post. Successfully built a number of high performing teams. Worked a lot with governments, donors, UN agencies and NGOs. Communicates very well in both English and Amharic languages

I studied Economics at the Addis Ababa University where I received my BA in 1983. I then attended a three month course on Rural Poverty Alleviation at IDPM, University of Manchester, UK, in 1995. In 1997/98 I studied towards my Masetr's degree in NGO Management at the London School of Economics, UK, and graduated in August 1998.
