FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR GOOD ROOTS, Berlin, Germany:

Good Roots invests patient capital and on-the-ground technical advisory in its portfolio organizations, supporting them in developing and streamlining their business models and creating all-round social enterprises to leverage their potential.

We are currently launching an Impact Investing Fund in cooperation with SOCIAL SYNERGY from Mumbai, India(http://sosynergy.org) as an impact investing vehicle for early stage social enterprises; strong focus on patient capital/grants and social impact.

DIRECTOR FEM SUSTAINABLE SOCIAL SOLUTIONS, Bangalore, India,
2010 - June 2015:

An extensive background in directing economic development and entrepreneurial ventures, my most recent focus has been on incubating social business models focussing on the people living at the "Bottom of the Pyramid". Among others I managed a community-based water supply project that is highlighted as an India-wide success model for similar organizations. Further, our organisation successfully cooperated with a for-profit-technology provider and a local NGO to pilot and replicate a rural housing model in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh).

After operating for 5 years in India we can offer a clear value proposition for the local social enterprise sector as well as for funders and investors from abroad.

We see three areas of work for us:

1. Continuing our operations providing seed funding and investments as well as technical support. Our focus is on “last mile” consultations and executions.
2. Advisory research to enable strategic investing – supporting impact investors
3. Consulting Corporations on Social Investments in India

Our value proposition is based on the realisation that if there are markets at the "Bottom-of-the-Pyramid” at all, they first need to be facilitated. And for this kind of market development it takes cooperation with local entities.

We believe that partnerships between a variety of players such as social enterprises, NGOs, corporations, communities and government enable the creation of effective solutions that can be incrementally replicated.
