Education:
I have been involved in the creation and telling of stories for more than 15 years, engaging people in debate and challenging conventional thinking. First as a journalist, working for independent radio, then the BBC and CBC in Toronto, Canada. With a hunger to feed my appetite for international news, I moved into television, working for many years as Senior Producer for BBC World Television, then Assistant Programme Editor for AL Jazeera. Working with urgency and under deadline pressure, managing and developing teams of journalists, producers, social media enthusiasts, graphic designers, and presenters, across multiple platforms, establishing a clear direction, setting deadlines and priorities, ensuring world-class content and a smooth output of programmes.

While working in the Middle East, and after writing countless stories on the struggles in the region, I made a conscious decision to work towards a career whereby I wasn’t simply telling the stories but helping those main characters.

Securing a position with International Medical Corps, I spent time in West Africa during the Ebola outbreak. Developing content strategy to strengthen the work being carried out by the organisation, helping advance fundraising capability, strengthen advocacy goals and attract new donors. Driving content towards local and international media and building on the wider global audience we were able to deliver the most impact. Having come from the newsroom, my knowledge of what is necessary to engage with the audience proved vital and cemented regular slots on BBC World Service Radio and with global publications such as New York Times, Guardian Newspaper and New York Magazine.

Continuing in the field of charity work, I was asked to go to Europe during the height of the refugee crisis. Filming, writing and documenting the work done to assist the refugees. Feeding the organisations media team with innovative ideas and creative ways to tell the stories of the thousands of people escaping war, violence, and persecution.

In 2016 I began work on an advocacy document for the WHO and affiliated organisations working towards the elimination of a neglected tropical disease (NTD), trachoma. Leading operations from concept to strategy, to implementation, and working in close partnership with dozens of International NGOs, including fundraising teams, technical specialists, policy and advocacy teams, media and digital marketing, external developers and a number of government departments across countries in Africa. The widely anticipated project was delivered in 4 languages alongside an extensive media campaign strategy taking into consideration the UN calendar and important dates to optimize and strengthen coverage. The project continues to deliver success stories with more countries announcing elimination of the disease.

Since completion, I have worked on NTD documents for CBM and have recently finished a similar advocacy report on onchocerciasis that was launched a
