Professional Experience:
I was first employed as a Research Assistant in 1991 by the Danish International Development Agency in Zimbabwe on a two year contract assessing the socioeconomic impact of rural feeder roads in rural areas. After that I worked again as a a research assistant for the University of Zimbabwe for one year before joining the public service as a community service officer and later as a District Administrator. My job as a district administrator entailed coordinating all the government development and relief programmes in the district. I would also conduct research work for the government as well as conduct monitoring and evaluation exercises. I organised local and parliamentary elections in the years 2000 and 2002. I joined the WFP in 2002 as a field monitor in charge of the food programmes in the western part of Zimbabwe. I conducted basic food security monitoring as well as providing technical assistance to the Implementing NGOs. I was part of the food security monitoring teams in more than 10 food security surveys conducted over a period of 10 years. I left WFP in 2011 to pursue a Masters Degree in Peace and Governance. I worked for WFP South Sudan for six months as a team leader on a humanitarian assistance programme. Part of job in entailed coordination, reporting logistics and conflict management among others. I also attended a course on food security cluster coordination in Stuttgart in Germany last year sponsored by the Norwegian Refugee Council. I have some training in Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) as well as a UNICEF online certificate in Introduction to Child Protection
I am a qualified, dedicated and experienced international humanitarian aid worker, specialising in food aid program coordination and conflict management. My most recent role has been the Programme Officer of all aspects of local nutrition programs in South Sudan for the United Nations World Food Programme, WFP.

My time in South Sudan has seen me plan, implement, evaluate and report on programs that provide both immediate emergency relief and sustainable local development. I have overseen the distribution of essential foods and supplements, coordination of primary health care services, training of program delivery teams, provision of logistical and technical support. This role has also involved collecting and analysing data on the impact and effectiveness of our food aid programs on communities, as well as ensuring WFP compliance in every aspect of our program delivery.

This experience, in addition to my previous experience in humanitarian relief in Zimbabwe, has given me knowledge and perspective in humanitarian emergency situations, and an understanding of the importance of developing sustainable community development programs.

I have a strong academic grounding in international aid, nutrition and conflict management, having completed a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, a Graduate Diploma as well as a Masters Degree in Peace Governance.

I possess excellent organisational skills and an ability to maintain the big picture while attending to details and logistics. I am an excellent communicator, with an ability to manage large teams of people; and I remain calm and positive under pressure, especially in what can be difficult or traumatic or conflict situations.

My life and career have been driven by a strong passion to alleviate the suffering of disadvantaged people around the world. I believe that everyone has a responsibility to help poorer nations, and I would love to play an integral part in enacting that. I am currently teaching Peace and Governance at a local University on a voluntary basis.
