In the NGO sector I have experience in community projects’ implementation, evaluation and monitoring. I implemented a project funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) on telecenters in East Africa that targeted rural communities in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. I coordinated the implementation of a telemedicine project in three countries in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) for the African Medical and Research Foundation –AMREF. Further, I coordinated a research project on application of ICTs in HIV/Aids response in five East and Southern Africa countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Botswana and South Africa) funded by IDRC. I have also coordinated a research project on health and ICT funded by the World Bank. In the private sector, projects I have worked on includes the market analysis of the Business Process Outsourcing(BPO) in Kenya. I have been consulting for Research ICT Africa, (www.researchictafrica.net) as the Kenya team leader where I coordinate households’ and business surveys and their use of ICTs. I consulted for the Kenya private sector alliance (KEPSA) where I was in charge of education, ICT; and science & technology sectors. The work involved streamlining the activities of the private sector with those of the government. I actively participated in drafting vision 2030 giving input in the three sectors from the private sector perspective. I further gave input to the science and technology innovation policy of the ministry of science and technology. In the education sector, I was a research associate and project coordinator for the Kenya Education Network (KENET) in 2013/2014 where I coordinated a research targeting 30 public and private universities on their ICT readiness. I refined the research tools, recruited the research assistants, coordinated the data collection process, data entry and analysis. I also participated in report writing. In addition, I lecture part time at the University of Nairobi, School of Computing and Informatics and I supervise MBA students at the business school, Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa. I completed 1 year Postdoctoral fellowship at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)in Pretoria, South Africa in Mach 2013. My duties included coordinating monthly seminars, supervising MBA dissertations, and editing manuscripts for a journal on innovations in Africa.
I graduated with a Phd in information systems from the University of Nairobi in 2011. My thesis looked at the development outcomes of the new technologies to the quality of life of low income households in Kenya. I have published two papers from the thesis and presented the findings in national and international conferences.
I earned an MBA in management science in 2000 from the University of Nairobi. My project looked at the challenges that hindered internet growth in Kenya.
I hold a Bsc in Information science from Moi University earned in 1996.
I also have a certificate from diplo foundation in Malta earned in 2006 after completing a six months course on Internet governance. I am now a fellow of the foundation.

I have received the following fellowships in the last five years.
April 2012-2013 March- Postdoctoral Research Fellowship - Institute of Economic Research on Innovation Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), Pretoria, South Africa. I conducted research and supervised dissertations. I am still supervising MBA dissertations.
2009-2011-Amy Mahan Research ICT Africa Scholarship – This fellowship paid for my PhD tuition fee.
2010-2011- University of Nairobi-IDRC Scholarships on ICT for Development. This fellowship paid for data collection for my PhD field work.
Major projects includes: March -August 2015 - National Consultant for the International Trade Center to develop an Implementation Strategy for the National ICT Master Plan 2014-2017. This includes coordinating and facilitating caucus meetings and development of a Plan of Action.
2014 Feb to April –Wrote the Kenya National ICT Master Plan 2014-2017 as the secretary to the task force established by the Cabinet Secretary, ICT in October 2013.
September 2013 to May 2014 - Research Associate and Project Coordinator, E-readiness Research Project for the Kenya Education Network (KENET). My work included preparation and piloting research tools, recruitment of research assistants, coordination of data collection, entry and analysis. 2008 – Worked on the fibre optic business plan for the Kenya Power and Lightening Company (KPLC), a utility company exploring on utilization of fibre optic to manage power distribution.
2008 - Researched on E-waste management in Kenya and related health hazards. The project was supported by Hewlett Packard Corporation (HP), Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA) and Global Digital Solidarity Fund (DSF)

2005 -Coordinated a three month research project funded by Infodev on the use of ICTs in the health sector. Apart from the actual research, I was in charge of quality control and technical support. In 2004, I Coordinated the setup of Africa Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) telemedicine project in remote hospitals based in Kenya and Tanzania. Played a key role in organising a regional workshop on telemedicine, identified the best technology for the hospitals and coordinated technology installation. Coordinated training for the project partners. Trained the beneficiaries basic ICT and use of the technologies for information gathering and dissemination.
