As a public health policy and systems specialist with over 10 years of experience, I contribute to the analysis, design, and improvement of interventions towards equitable health access for all, in the context faced by low-middle-income countries. I am deeply committed to using appropriate research and analytic tools in facilitating evidence-informed policymaking and health systems strengthening within a collaborative environment. My experience thus far covers solution building to enhance health benefit packages, health service delivery, as well as governance and regulation of technologies and hospitals, all with reference to the attainment of universal health care goals. Likewise, I have practical experience in applying these skills to program-specific interventions such as in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, and health emergency management. I have worked with a range of partners on these projects, such as DOH, PhilHealth, UNICEF, WHO, UNDP, DSWD, EU, USAID, either as a project leader or technical consultant. These experiences feed into my teaching portfolio consisting of health policy, health management, public health, and research methods. With the firm belief that community-building is key in sustaining the benefits of my field of practice, I actively promote its value in several platforms. I co-founded the Alliance for Improving Health Outcomes (AIHO), Inc., (www.aiho.org.ph), a non-profit public health consulting firm that supports health sector projects and conducts activities that aim to strengthen the appreciation and practice of public health in the Philippines. Under my watch as the inaugural Executive Director, AIHO’s project portfolio expanded over three years, providing opportunities for over 300 individual staff, several of them eventually moving to health sector positions after building their capacity in AIHO. Currently, I volunteer as Board President of this NGO. I am also a founding member of the Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians. Further, I am actively promoting the field of Health Policy and Systems Research, as an area of study that could provide important input to policy decision making. I currently sit at the Board of Health Systems Global.I was recently awarded the “Gawad Lagablab - Social Upliftment” by the Philippine Science High School National Alumni Association, for this body of work. I champion and enable more women's contribution in the health system, my motivation for co-founding the Women in Global Health - Philippine Chapter on January 2022.
