Professional Experience:
Between 1994-2001 I coordinated a UNDP/LIFE programme which contributed to introduction of community based services in the area of provision of social services to planned and unplanned settlements.Between 2001-2006 I coordinated a child labour project under the ILO/IPEC-COMAGRI that was supporting interventions by communities, employers and trade unions to combat child labour in commercial agriculture; Between 2007-2015 I worked for Winrock International (INGO) supporting interventions for addressing child labour in agriculture. 2015-Oct 2016 worked for Pact Tanzania as a Senior Program Manager on a program dealing with Orphans and Vulnerable Children (USAID) funded. Nov 2016 -todate working for Heifer International/East Africa Youth Inclusion Project for improving youth livelihood and employment creation in the agriculture sector i.e. agribusiness
Education:
Holder of a Masters degree in Environmental and Ecological Sciences; A postgraduate Diploma in entrepreneurship; Have more than 20 years experience in community development work in the area of poverty reduction, environmental management, youth livelihood and child labor
Affiliations and Achievements:
1. I am a life member of the national NGO- Tanzania Women Leaders and Environment (TAWLAE)which deals with empowering women in Agriculture, Environment and Poverty;
2. I coordinated a UNDP/LIFE between 1994-2001 the project contributed to capacity building of community groups to address their felt needs in the area of environment and poverty reduction. Further to this the UNDP/LIFE project introduced community based social services provision that contributed to reduction of poverty by way of creating jobs to community groups; improved environment with fully community participation; Along the shore of Lake Victoria at Kirumba the project mobilized market community to form a CBO that was later subcontracted by the Mwanza City Council to collect market revenue. This best practice was later replicated to other districts, municipal and city councils in Tanzania. I also worked on Child Labor focused programs under ILO and Winrock International. Through these programs children were withdrawn from worst form of child labour and provided with education opportunities; out of school older children were provided opportunities in vocational training centers and later secured decent jobs or created jobs for other youths
