Professional Experience:
I have successful experience in project management, research and analysis in different UN agencies. For instance, I did extensive research in order to write a report for UNIDO on the effects the Iraq War has had on the agricultural and economic aspects of Iraq; at OHCHR, I worked closely on the negative impact of the non-repatriation of funds of illicit origin to the countries of origin on the enjoyment of human rights; I conducted research and analysis on anti-corruption and good governance for UNDP-Jordan, in order to design and propose projects to the donors and the government of Jordan.
I have also contributed to the achievement of the objectives of other international organizations and governmental agencies. I wrote the book “Breezes of Hope” for CIDA- Jordan, which shows possible solutions for the establishment of an environment of peace and stability in the MENA region. In order for the book to reflect the real human rights and peace building situation in the MENA region, I went to the field to design the studies and conduct interviews. With the results obtained I examined and analyzed possible solutions aimed at ensuring that human rights are respected; all of this rooted in the values of the Arab World and in accordance with international principles and standards.
Furthermore, at IOM I conducted extensive research to compare anti-human trafficking policies in the region. Also, I analyzed sensitive situations regarding asylum seekers in third countries; the results were presented in a project proposal. In addition, I did fact-finding and data-analysis work on human trafficking in Jordan, which was used to lobby government officials and donors in order to strengthen their collaboration and financial support.
Advocacy and project management are important assets of my technical expertise. In terms of advocacy, I was active in supporting the government in its policy making for decentralization and youth’s participation in the local governance. Furthermore, I represented OHCHR in different UN Human Rights committees, where I assisted in advocating the Right to Development. I worked closely on the inclusion of education into peace building and conflict reduction policies; I advocated children’s right to education in refugee camps and supported NGOs on policy making and programming for education and peace building.
I participated in conferences and negation tables. I delivered lectures to the UNDP staff in Jordan on Parliamentary Development and on How to Work with Political Parties. I gave conferences to local NGOs and the private sector on the importance of education for peace.
