Professional Experience: |
I am a dynamic and forward-thinking professional with 20+ years’ experience serving as a strategist, cultural liaison, advisor, and project manager for nonprofit organizations in the United States and internationally. I am well qualified with two master’s degrees in Public Affairs/ Policy, and Gender and Development. Committed change agent and advocate for gender empowerment and public health nutrition for women and families within third-world countries. I offer extensive experience and expertise providing technical guidance and support for country offices to improve policy analysis, advocacy, and partnership efforts at the local, regional, and global levels. My background reflects extensive experience developing health-oriented, educational and empowerment programs for women and young girls.
Within my current position as the Project Advisor and Volunteer Coordinator of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency and AMISTAD International, I serve as a key liaison for an NGO in Australia conducting projects in a rural village of Kenya. In doing so, I have innovated, implemented, and directed a Women and Orphan Empowerment Program. As an advocate, educator, and coordinator, I have proven vital to fostering economic independence and financial autonomy of women while also enabling the education of 145+ orphans by manifesting an educational fund. Throughout this position, I have also produced research, analysis, and reports on gender mainstreaming throughout the region.
Previously, as a Project Consultant with faith based NGO, I achieved project management, consultancy, and research on the cultural integration, nutrition, food distribution, and gender analysis within African-based community development programs. As a result of my research, I was able to develop a successful solution to overcoming discrimination against women by empowering them to become food distributors of government aid programs within economically-challenged and disenfranchised areas
In addition to working in the United States, I have lived and worked for over 20 years’ in East Africa where I served as senior manager in the nutrition and dietetics department for a large private hospital in Kenya. I have also worked on various issues concerning food security, nutrition education that involved collaborating with World Food Program, WHO, USAID and other local NGOs.
My diverse experience has enabled me to be well versed in navigating and working collaboratively with different government agencies, private institutions, community based organizations, local, national and international NGOs.
