Professional Experience:

I have just completed my fifth year with the United Nations where I have worked in three DPKO Missions namely UNAMID in Darfur, Sudan (2008-2010), UNAMA in Afghanistan (2010-2012) and I am currently in South Sudan with UNMISS. As a Civil Affairs Officer within each of the missions my area of work has revolved around early warning of conflict, conflict mediation specifically between tribes within my area of responsibility, protection of civilians, peace-building, QIPS and support to state institutions.

Preceding my experience with the UN I worked as an Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York for three years where I supported the teams on Second Committee and Third Committee matters. My tenure of three years with the Mission included drafting briefing notes, talking points and speeches for Ministers, undertaking background research on pertinent issues and on occasion representing the mission at negotiations for the second and third committee.

From 2003 to 2004 I worked as a Research Officer with the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the WTO in Geneva. Fresh out of my Master’s program at the World Trade Institute (WTI) a majority of my work focused on research for senior officers on TRIPS and GATS related issues.
