Professional Experience:
I started my journey in the developmental sector at the age of 16, when along with three of my friends we launched a not-for-profit organization, Friends’ Society. At the time we were observing the world and our society through youthful eyes and had ideas about how we could contribute to making it a better place. The motivation was to create a vehicle that would give us an opportunity to build upon our ideas, enable us to take initiative and responsibility, with a motto of “Paropkaram Idam Shariram” (Sanskrit) translated as, “this body is meant for benevolence.” We successfully created a network of peers, and along with established organizations, became change agents. Friends’ Society has been a force for over a decade and a half, promoting social justice and building a community of practice for the next generation of youth.

With a force of 15,000+ volunteers spread across the length and breadth of the country, we galvanized relief efforts post the Latur and Gujarat earth quakes and the Tsunami that rocked the Southern coast of India. Our other initiatives included working towards river conservation, municipal solid waste management, and many more.

The next major milestone on my journey was being awarded the Rotary Peace Fellowship. My Master's thesis was on "Social Entrepreneurship: A tool of conflict mitigation at the grass roots." With a small seed grant, I translated my thesis into a project on ground, which later spun off as an independent entity. There-After, I launched another venture connecting American universities to Indian counterparts through study abroad programs. That too, is now an independent entity.

Starting with being an entrepreneur to having worked with governments, not-for-profits and international NGOS, now I am looking at taking over the next big challenge in my life.

An engineer by background, I pursued Master's in Social Work along with a Diploma in Peace and Conflict Resolution as a Rotary Peace Fellow, a joint program between University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University.
