Affiliations and Achievements: |
1. Program management I have sound project management skills from being trained in project cycle management, and from working as Project Trainer/Assistant for Counter-Trafficking Unit at International Organization for Migration for two years, as Program Officer at Oxfam for one year and eight months, as Project Manager at ActionAid for a year and as Project Coordinator at the University of New England for another nine months. These experiences allowed me to develop understanding and skills of appraising, planning, budgeting, implementation, financial tracking, monitoring and evaluation and reporting.
2. Peacebuilding I did my Master in International Peace Studies given I have always been interested in the issue. My specific interest is peacebuilding through development. I believe that development can reinforce peacebuilding. When people’s livelihoods are sustained, they can actively participate in shaping their society and vice versa. I have proven abilities of conducting gender-sensitive conflict analysis. As a Project Manager at ActionAid overseeing a project aimed to enhance capacity of local authorities to serve the communities more effectively. This gave me opportunity to provide strategic direction to the team and the organization in bringing targeted groups, mostly Muslim village and sub-district heads around to become more aware of good governance.
3. Analytical thinking and Problem Solving My analytical skills have been demonstrated through all of my previous assignments. For example, as Program Officer at Oxfam, one of my responsibilities was to develop a program strategic plan for the Deep South provinces concerning building community resilience to disasters. In this case, I used the logical framework approach in which I consulted with local partners to identify problems and concerns of targeted communities. Furthermore I brought the issues to consult relevant experts within the organization. Eventually I was able to produce a program strategy plan which was later endorsed in the organization’s Thailand Country Analysis and Strategy. The plan articulated program’s objectives, nature of changes and expected impacts.
4. Coordination I have proven abilities of coordinating with stakeholders including civil society actors, community leaders, academics, local authorities and international donors. As a Program Officer at Oxfam, I worked with five implementing partners in a complex project. To ensure that the project run smoothly, I established the monthly meeting with the implementing partners in which I participated either in person or via telecommunications. In addition to that I organized and on a rotational basis, chaired the project’s quarterly steering committee comprising of key civil society actors, academics and local authorities and project team members.
5. Facilitation I have proven abilities of organizing and delivering capacity building activities for the implementing partners and targeted community leaders following their needs and interests. The following events were some of what I facilitated; • Training on European Union contractual project management for colleagues at Oxfam and ActionAid, • Workshop on gender mainstreaming and peacebuilding for targeted Buddhist and Muslim men and women who were small scale farmers and fishers, • Training on civic education for targeted Buddhist and Muslim women community leaders, • Workshop about participatory action research for targeted Buddhist and Muslim women community leaders living in conflict-affected areas.
