Professional Experience:
I have been working in the area of individual and institutional donor management, grant administration, special event planning, and external relations for the past two years as the Manager of Resource Development at a local community development non-profit organization, Chhaya CDC. I’ve recently been promoted to the role of Director of Development and Communications due to my successful track record in building individual donor programs and executing fundraising campaigns. With in depth knowledge of the fundraising and grant administration infrastructure, leadership skills in public speaking and community organizing, analytical skills for conducting research and designing programs and policies, a Masters in Public Administration degree focusing on non-profit management and policy, and the values and personality to thrive in an international and diverse team setting, I believe that I am ideally suited for a career in international development.
As the Director of Development and Communications at Chhaya CDC, I develop and manage the relationships with individual and institutional donors that will increase the organization’s network and resources. This work is achieved by building programs and organizing events that are appealing and meaningful for our donors. I often represent the organization at various funder meetings and public engagements to expand our visibility among the policy and donor landscapes. To be successful in my role, I must ensure that I collate information from our program staff on a regular basis so that I can capture the compelling stories of the lives that we impact every day. I am in charge of writing the organization’s Annual Report, designing the organization’s communication materials (flyers, posters, post-cards etc.) from its design, content, and publication. As a fundraiser and communication’s lead, I am proud to have obtained $50,000 in new resources for Chhaya CDC and have developed a cohesive communications system that allows the organization to have a strong message and presence in our community.
From my previous jobs, I’ve developed a diverse set of skills that have built my professional experience. Whether it is researching and writing policy briefs for a senior economist in New York University, conducting interviews with government officials in Tanzania to assess the health infrastructure of the country, or managing delegates for an international conference, I’m adept and dynamic in all of these roles.
Overall, my professional experiences and education have given me the confidence to be an ardent advocate for myself and for the issues that I deeply care about. I possess great communication skills and handle myself quite diplomatically, having learned it from my father’s diplomatic career, when it comes to external relations. Aside from being a self-starter, amiable, and a team player in all respects, I work with a high degree of integrity which is driven not only by the responsibilities of having a meaningf
