Professional Experience:
I am currently working as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services in Government Relations and Strategic Policy. In this role, I have had experience in, and developed a knowledge of, policy development and implementation processes in a portfolio agency context.

As a senior policy analyst in intergovernmental relations, I provide strategic advice and briefings to the Secretary and portfolio Minister regarding issues of national and state priority, lead negotiations for all major health service agreements and provide advice and assistance to Department Business Units in the development and implementation phases of agreements. I would now like to use my experience in an international role and believe that I have many transferable skills.

I have previous work experience in the private, public and international sectors. As a lawyer in a private law firm I developed high level oral, written and analytical skills in my role providing advice to clients on complex legal matters. As a child protection worker at the Department of Health and Human Services, I gained service level experience which gave me a good understanding of the difficulties that can arise in translating policy into practice. It also assisted me to develop my interpersonal and leadership skills as I was regularly required to make decisions and implement strategies in highly emotive situations.
I also have experience working in an international organisation in Bangkok, Thailand through my internship with the International Organization for Migration. Through my work as a migration health intern, I learned a great deal about migration, specifically migration health, in the Asian region. During my time in Bangkok I became familiar with the work of the international system, specifically the UN and NGOs through partnerships with IOM.
Education:
Master of Laws (specialising in international law) at University of Sydney (2012), Graduate Certificate of Legal Practice at University of Tasmania (2006), Bachelor of Information Systems/Bachelor of Laws (2005) at the University of Tasmania.
Affiliations and Achievements:
I also volunteer with Amnesty International Australia (AIA) as a member of the Tasmanian Branch Committee and as a Director and Regional Representative for Tasmania on the Board of AIA.
The Board of AIA is Amnesty International Australia's highest-decision making body and is democratically elected bi-annually by its members. The Board provides governance, leadership and stewardship for Amnesty International Australia as part of a global movement of human rights defenders. This is achieved by overseeing the implementation in Australia of the global vision, mission and plan as well as decisions of the International Council and National Annual General Meetings.
