Professional Experience: |
I am an expert in climate change policy, international program management and project design and have particular expertise working in Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States in the Asia-Pacific. I have 9 years of management experience in both government and non-government sectors.
I have 6 years experience working for the Australian Government in the Department of the Environment and the former Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency. Most recently, I concluded a 2 year posting in Samoa as the Regional Program Manager for the Pacific Islands for a $32 million climate change adaptation program. In this position, I led regional engagement with 14 Pacific Island Countries on Australia's adaptation program. Managing multi-country adaptation projects across sectors, I have developed a detailed technical knowledge of adaptation issues and appropriate risk management solutions in various fields, including in infrastructure design, disaster risk reduction, water management, coastal protection, settlement planning and small scale agriculture. In my previous roles as an Assistant Director, Senior Policy Officer, and Graduate I have provided high-level advice on Australia's international adaptation policy, led program design and quality assurance and formulated communication materials to enhance knowledge sharing and dissemination.
I also have three years experience working for non-government organizations in the environment and development field. As an Environment and Climate Change Education Advisor in Timor-Leste, I worked with community based organizations to assess vulnerability to climate change and design strategies to increase the sustainability of community projects. In Cambodia, I assisted a local NGO to develop participatory monitoring and evaluation methods and build capacity in project proposal writing. Through these roles I have developed a keen understanding of practical methods for capacity building and the importance of fostering partnerships for sustainable development.
I thrive in multicultural and multi-disciplinary team environments and excel in representation, policy analysis and technical advice. I have extensive contract management and team management experience and I am highly proficient in stakeholder engagement and coordination.
