Professional Experience: |
I have over 7 years of responsible professional and volunteer work experience with project management, facilitating learning initiatives and research expertise in the context of international development. I recently completed a contract with the Humanitarian Issues Program of the Canadian Red Cross, facilitating a volunteer youth advocacy group of over 20 volunteers. As Team Leader, I was responsible for grant development, project management, workshop facilitation and the recruitment and training of over 20 volunteers. In this capacity, I also designed, updated and implemented numerous educational events and workshops surrounding the topic of children affected by armed conflict. Such workshops were then delivered to both internal and external youth audiences across Atlantic Canada. Within a period of 5 months, we were successful in obtaining a large grant from the Canadian International Development Agency to fund two major projects: a Photo and Essay Travelling Exhibit open to the public, featured alongside a professional photo exhibit; and a provincial full-day youth conference with approximately 30 participants attending from high schools across Atlantic Canada. These projects have since been nationally implemented.
More recently, I completed a 6-month internship with the Democratic Governance Group within the Bureau for Development Policy of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). In addition to producing knowledge products and managing content exchanged within the community of practice for the Democratic Governance Practice Knowledge Network, I also provided research and analytical support towards the development of the flagship Global Democratic Governance Report. My responsibilities entailed supporting the contributing editors, mapping relevant research expertise, and liaising with academics and practitioners. This is further illustration of my dynamic customer-service and relationship management skills, my strong communication skills, as well as my ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural team environment with tight deadlines.
