Area of Expertise:
  • Human Rights, Law, Migration, Conflicts, Justice
  • Social, Education, Gender, Youth, Child
Professional Experience:
During my work in the Children-at-Risk Unit with UNHCR Malaysia and with street children in Ethiopia, I was able to gather important and interesting expertise in child protection. With UNHCR's Children-at-Risk Unit, I mainly conducted Best Interest Determination for unaccompanied and separated refugee children. This included assessment of a child's living condition and the implementation of adequate protection measures. I learned about procedures in the field, such as the establishment and realization of action plans and follow-ups as well as perfected my ability to draft reports. With the NGO Sport - The Bridge, I implemented my own project in personal hygiene and substance abuse prevention for street children in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Furthermore, I had the chance to assist the local management in Ethiopia to draft a proposal for the future expansion of their programme. This allowed me to learn about the complex collaboration of an international NGO with donors, partners and authorities. Since I was working in legal jobs for the Swiss Federal Court of Administration and the "legal and acquisition" team at the Swiss Railways, I am familiar with public procurement procedures, mediation, representation and other administrative tasks.

My experience at international level and within the UN system, combined with other work experience that I pursued on a national level in Switzerland, gave me the opportunity to gather a broad spectrum of different qualifications. I possess reliable and precise working skills which I achieved in legal jobs as well as analytical, negotiation and coordination abilities that I obtained in child protection work. Along with my academic and work related accomplishments, I gathered different soft skills, such as sensitivity for cultural diversity, empathy, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure. Furthermore, since I grew up near the French speaking part of Switzerland, I speak French, English, as well as German fluently. I enjoy working in a team and I'm able to adapt to existing structures quickly. But also independent work is one of my strong points and I complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
