Master of Public Health degree from University of Leeds, UK and a Medical Doctor's degree from University of Nairobi, Kenya.
Affiliations and Achievements:
. As a member of a team put together by the Global Fund, successfully undertook a joint assessment of the National Malaria Strategic Plan2011-2015 for Zambia.
.In 2010, appointed Honorary Lecturer in the department of Community Medicine, University of Zambia, covering topics within the unit of Health Policy, planning and Management as well as Health Systems Strengthening.
. Led the growth of MACEPA regional malaria program, establishing partnerships with Ministries of Health in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
. Successfully mobilized SADC member state National Malaria control Programs and led the process for the development of the 2010-2014 SADC Malaria Advocacy and Communication Framework.
. Successfully led the process for the strategic re-orientation of the MACEPA Learning Community initiative for Africa region.
. Provided effective leadership and supervision to MACEPA staff in Zambia and the rest of the MACEPA Learning Community country program teams and consultants in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mozambique and Malawi.
. Successfully spearheaded partnership between MACEPA, Tulane University and University of Zambia for the development of an M&E module for MPH students.
. Successfully managed growth of the MACEPA Learning Community Secretariat from a two member team to the current staffing level of 12 members of technical and support staff.
. Successfully led the process for the development of a 5-year National Malaria M&E Plans for Ministries of health of Ethiopia and Tanzania.
. Effectively transferred knowledge and skills to World Vision’s Africa region Health and HIV&AIDS programme staff by facilitating capacity building workshops and seminars specifically in program design, programme management, monitoring and evaluation, resource mobilization and health management information systems (HMIS)
. Coordinated a very effective emergency relief program (health and nutrition) in Kenya 2000/2001
. Successfully negotiated for funding from World Vision United States for HIV prevention projects in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia in 2006
. Led negotiations with a private donor in the United States of America and managed to raise 500,000 USD for a primary health care project in Kenya.
. Team leader/programme design: 2001, US $ 5 million, 5 year Child Survival Project in Teso District, Kenya, funded by USAID.
. Spear-headed the integration of capacity enhancement approaches and facilitation as opposed to service delivery in Health and HIV&AIDS strategy and programmes in World Vision’s three sub regions of East, West and Southern Africa starting in 2003 to 2008.
. Facilitated development of Health and HIV & AIDS strategies and policies in all World Vision National programs between 1999 to 2date, serving in different capacities.
. Designed and provided technical oversight for a 5-year cross border US $ 5m HIV/AIDS program for Zambia in Year 2004 that was funded by USAID through FHI.
. Designed and provided technical support to a 3-year HIV/AIDS prevention program for the youth in Tanzania in Year 2003. The project was funded by the European Union for Euro 2.5m.
. Designed a two year multi-country project for HIV&AIDS response within the transport sector of the SADC countries (Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland) in 2003. It was funded by the European Union (Euro 500,000) through the Southern Africa Development and Cooperation (SADC).
. Designed a 3-year community-based rollback malaria project, which surpassed the 60% target for household coverage with Insecticide treated nets in Bunyala division of Busia district in Kenya. This was a unique private sector-PVO partnership that integrated micro-enterprise in malaria prevention.
. Designed 3 girl-child projects focusing on eradication of female genital mutilation in Narok district in kenya.
