This experience was gained by working in a multi-cultural environment has provided me with skills for working with a diverse group of individuals at various levels in organizations. I am self-motivated; easily motivate others to perform at a higher level and a good judge of character and ability.
MY COMPETENCIES
The major reasons why I have been selected for senior positions within UN for large and complex assignments and senior posts within the United Nations are my strengths in these competencies:
• Leadership: I have lead by providing a positive role for staff to follow. Empowering staff with the tools to achieve the overall objective of the organization. Ensuring that goals given to staff reflect the strategic direction and vision of the organization and they are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time bound and they become part of the agreed upon goals between myself and the staff member which is then linked to performance evaluation of the staff member.
• Integrity and Professionalism: My level of integrity and professionalism is consistently maintained at the highest level possible and has never been questioned. All interactions with all level of staff are professional and respectable from senior management to cleaners, for the last 28 years, I have work in highly diverse workplaces which makes me sensitive to cultural differences as noted here.
• Accountability and Managing Performance: Staff members are advised that I’m fully accountable for the service/units under my authority and they are accountable for the areas which have been delegated to them. In order to manage their performance, I ensure they have the appropriate level of authority to achieve the goal and be successful, monitor their performance as required, review deadlines and milestones, provide timely feedback to staff and ensure all performance goals are specific, measurable and obtainable.
RELATED EXPERIENCE
As the Chief, Corporate Services Section (CSS) is responsible to provide UNEP with the necessary operational support in the areas of Finance/Budget, Human Resources, Information Technology and Asset Management and Accounting for an effectively and efficient operation, consistent with the UN rules and regulations.
Goals and objective of the Chief CSS:
• Ensure that resources are used efficient and effective for UNEP program of work line with project documents agreed with our donors.
• Determine UNEP has the administrative support systems in place and operational for the program of work and donor project management.
• Ensure implementation, monitoring and performance is done and periodic reports furnished to the Senior Management, Division Directors, General Assembly of UN, Governing Council of UNEP and the Committee for Permanent Representatives
