WORK EXPERIENCE
I have worked as Consultant, at Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction (IDD), UNESCAP, for development of the technical manual of ‘Rapid Assessment of Damage and Loss’ with focus on qualitative as well as quantitative parts of space applications for ASEAN region. This also involved contributing as a resource person in the ‘ASEAN Regional Workshop on Hazard Risk Assessment and Integration of Satellite Imageries for Rapid Assessment for Post Damage and Losses’ at GISTDA, Thailand. Prior to this, I have also developed the technical manual on ‘Rapid Assessment for Resilient Recovery (RARR)’ for the SAARC region. The assignment also included capturing the essence of expert deliberations during the Expert Group Meeting (EGM) at Dehra Dun, India, revising the manual based on the comments and feedbacks from member Countries; conducting research, facilitating the communication and coordination among experts and secretariat, linking the work of the Expert Group with the manual, and documenting the findings and expert suggestions as results of the Expert Group and subsequent interactions.

I had carried out another assignment as Consultant, IDD, UNESCAP, for preparing, organizing and coordinating the Expert Group Meeting (EGM) for the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM). The work also involved developing the working paper along with preparing minutes of the meeting and bringing out the proceedings of EGM including the key recommendation and the outcomes with a draft policy note on “Managing Information for Disaster Risk Management and Resilience" (Nov, 2014).

While pursuing Ph.D., I undertook 5 Month internship at Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction (IDD), UNESCAP, Bangkok (May, 2013).

During this period I have also studied the impact of climate change on disasters especially in the context of agriculture sector. I have also studied the practical applications of technology in mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change. I have addressed such issues in various studies, research papers, seminars and workshop. I am familiar with the working of the UN System and am aware of the high priorities assigned to the issue of global warming and climate change.

Prior to this, I have worked for Siemens IT Solutions and Services, Thailand now ATOS in the field of capacity building, service management and support of SAP. I also worked at TCIL Bellsouth Ltd (TBL), India in the field of Telecom Software Development. I hold a MBA degree in International Business and an Engineering degree in Electronics. I have also undertaken certification on PMP (Standard Online Course, Simplilearn), and ITIL Certificate (IT Service Management Foundation, Pink Elephant International, Malaysia).

Education:
I am a PhD in Remote Sensing and GIS, MBA in International Business and Engineer in Electronics with about 10 years of international working experience. I am interested in projects / research activities linking climate change, disaster risk management, agriculture and parametric insurance. My recent area of work includes agricultural risk management through crop insurance using geo-spatial technologies, disaster information management, capacity building and developing technical manuals on Rapid assessment of Damage and Losses post disaster for SAARC and ASEAN region, through DRR and Space Applications Section of UNESCAP.
My Ph.D. is in the field of agriculture risk management using remote sensing and GIS. In particular, the focus was on its application in crop insurance. The study examined possible mechanisms (assessment models, relevant policies, application of new technologies, etc.) to overcome the challenges faced by public and private sector in crop insurance, and means to enhance its efficiencies and scale. The study identified the gaps in the adoption of crop insurance in Thailand and suggested possible solutions relating to policy support and framework, implementation mechanisms, technology adoption, and awareness amongst farmers. The methodology included literature review, quantitative and qualitative analysis, monitoring the changing implementation trends, multiple interaction/interview with private and government of?cials, rice experts and insurance experts, and conducting focused group discussions (FGD) with rice farmers at the village level.
Apart from my PhD research publications, I have also worked on various projects and publications as Consultant, at Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction (IDD), UNESCAP, with details attached in the CV.

I have excellent communication skills and am familiar with the UN working system. I have an exposure to public and private sector engagements in CCA and DRR having an understanding of possible engineering and management approaches for development in the Asia Pacific region. I have an experience of qualitative and quantitative analysis, capacity building, developing reports, conducting expert group meeting at regional level.
