I have developed and closed around 30 projects with donors like USAID, DFID, EU, AusAID, CIDA, UNDP, UNICEF, UNODC and UNDEF. I also developed and managed 10 electronic and print media advocacy campaigns, dramas and documentaries.

In the past, I have represented the government of Pakistan at the Ministerial Conferences of the UNEP from 1995 to 1996 to appraise Agenda 21 which was later accepted at the Rio +5 conference in 1997. I also represented the government of Pakistan at the NETLAP and SAARC conferences in 1996-1997.
I have partaken in more than 25 international conferences and seminars, including speaking at the First International Day of Democracy, organized by the United Nations Democracy Fund, in 2008. Last year, I also participated in the Regional Conference on Women’s Economic Empowerment and spoke on gender politics at the American University of Afghanistan. Position: Director, Women’s Empowerment Programme

Description of Work: The Asia Foundation (TAF) has been a leading advocate for women’s empowerment in Afghanistan and works on the premise that improving social, economic, and political opportunities for women will improve society as a whole. As the Director, Women’s Empowerment Program (WEP) at the Asia Foundation Afghanistan, I am in charge of four projects worth USD 20 million. The projects aim at eradicating violence against women, bridging the gap between the formal and informal justice sectors, supporting local and regional women’s organizations and networks to advance women’s empowerment and managing performance management advisor for efficient collection of monitoring and evaluation of data for collated reports. I am primarily responsible for planning, implementation, and oversight of all of the projects within WEP’s portfolio. I am also responsible for internal and external relationships. I extensively interact with program/project managers/directors and staff, and technical staff and regularly interact regularly with Country Representative and Deputy Country Representative, Finance staff, and Finance/Grants, Administration, Human Resources, Security Departments. My external interaction is mainly with government officials, donors, international/local organizations, and the international community.
*Develop strategies related to women’s empowerment in Afghanistan, including but not limited to: gender mainstreaming, institutional strengthening, civil society development, public awareness, gender justice/access to justice, elimination of violence against women, engagement of men and religious leaders in empowerment programs, economic empowerment, and other areas
*Develop new programs and project proposals related to women’s empowerment
*Interact with current, relevant donors and potential donors on a regular basis
*Oversee the implementation of all projects in the Foundation’s Women’s Empowerment portfolio in Afghanistan, and troubleshoot program issues as required
*Develop occasional brief research-opinion papers and present findings as required
*Maintain a broad and active network of contacts on women’s empowerment among NGOs, international institutions, Afghan civil society, and government.

Position: Senior Key Expert Judicial and Legal Affairs Communication

Description of Work: The Punjab Access to Justice Project aimed at empowering the poor and vulnerable people in Punjab to better claim their legal rights and to improve the provision of legal services. The Project was funded by the European Union. The Project counterparts were Lahore High Court, Punjab Prosecution Department Punjab and Punjab Bar Council. The project also collaborated with the Punjab Judicial Academy, district courts, district prosecutors, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department Punjab, Home Department Punjab, community-based organization, district press clubs and district bar associations.
I was responsible for the third Component of the project “Increased and regularized public legal and judicial information to increase citizens’ access to legal services and the accountability of the justice sector”. For more details on my work, please see my attached CV.
