I am a senior consultant with over 21 years of experience in the development sector, specializing in rule of law, access to justice, democracy, women's empowerment and gender, human rights, VAW/GBV and humanitarian assistance.

Areas of Expertise:

Rule of Law - Access to Justice: Improving access to justice for vulnerable groups (women, indigents, gender identity and religious minorities) to empower poor/vulnerable people to better claim their legal rights. Building rule of law to improve legal systems and services, including legal aid.

Democracy: Capacity development of the government, civil society, political parties, parliamentarians and citizens to assess governance performance, improve dialogue and inclusive participation to build consensus among multi stakeholders.

Gender/Gender Mainstreaming: Overseeing implementation of women development polices, strategies and projects, capacity building in gender budgeting, and raising awareness about gender relations and women’s’ subordination and its translation into local contexts.

Human Rights: Promotion of human rights standards and principles through training, advocacy and awareness raising. Improving policy and advocacy, together with human rights defenders. Particular areas of specialist expertise include protection of the rights of women and girls, minorities, freedom of religion or belief and civil and political rights.

VAW/GBV: Development and implementation of prevention and response initiatives both in customary and humanitarian contexts, including medical, legal and physiological care. Community education on structural inequalities between men and women that not only make women vulnerable to abuse but also inhibit them from speaking out about it and accessing support.
Humanitarian Assistance: Development and Implementation of Rapid Assessments, managing protection and referral services, addressing GBV in affected areas and providing psychological and legal support and coordination with humanitarian clusters.
